COBRA Administration/Premium Collections

School Claims Service was excited to launch in 2004 our newest product, COBRA Administration/Premium Collection Services. Since 1991 public schools have come to know us for our claims administrative services for schools who self-insure their dental and/or vision benefits. Now it is time to know SCS for our administrative services in regards to COBRA benefits. Whether you currently contract with a vendor to handle your COBRA needs or are doing this work in house, School Claims Service can meet all of your needs without costing your district any additional money.

For less than the 2% surcharge of premium that districts can charge to administer COBRA benefits, SCS will handle the notification process as well as the tracking and remittance of premium. Any follow-up required on collection issues is dealt with by SCS, which removes the district from this most uncomfortable situation. Our fees are lower than our competitors and are covered by the 2% surcharge, therefore, not costing districts any additional money.

Some of our key features are:

  1. Prompt notification process.

  2. Tracking and collection of premium.

  3. Remittance of premium to district/carrier.

  4. Collection of late or insufficient funds.

  5. Detailed reports.

  6. And MORE!

For more information on how these programs can assist your district in the administration of COBRA benefits or the collection and tracking of premium for retirees and/or part-time employees, give us a call at 1-866-403-7700.

Opti-Vision Discount Program

SCS, LLC has been administering vision benefits for public schools since 1991 and as an innovative leader in the field of vision care administration, SCS has teamed with NVA (National Vision Administrators) to design a program that can offer significant discounts off vision services.

The Opti-vision plan serves two needs for public schools. First, if you currently offer a reimbursement scheduled benefit, the Opti-vision plan will reduce the out of pocket expenses that your employees and their dependents must pay. Most vision benefits found in public schools are minimal so by using SCS and our Opti-vision plan, you are actually expanding your current benefit plan by making the NVA nationwide network of providers and their discounts available to your employees.

The second way that the Opti-vision plan can work for a district is when you do not have a reimbursable vision plan but need to offer something, at the negotiations table. For $15 per employee, per year, your employees and their dependents can have the network of providers available to them so that their costs are greatly reduced. Example: An employee gets an eye exam without the Opti-vision plan – this individual would pay $50 - $70 for an eye exam. If they had access to the Opti-vision plan and needed a regular eye exam, that cost would only be $38! For more information on how this cost-reflective program can benefit you and your employees, contact SCS at 1-866-403-7700.

IMPORTANT: Please review your identification card carefully for accuracy. If the card contains any errors, please contact SCS immediately.

SCS/NVA participating providers will service you and all of your dependents who are eligible, according to the following schedule of benefits:
